Is EqualSites an accessibility overlay?
No — it's the opposite. Overlays inject JavaScript that repaints your pages in the visitor's browser while the underlying code stays broken. EqualSites changes your site's actual HTML on the server, verifies the result on the live page, and keeps a record. Remove an overlay and everything reverts; remove EqualSites and fixes like alt text remain, because they were written into your content.
Will EqualSites make my site ADA or EAA compliant?
No tool can honestly promise that, and you should be suspicious of any that does — the FTC fined the largest overlay vendor $1 million for exactly that claim. What EqualSites does: finds problems, fixes what can be fixed safely, verifies fixes on your live pages, guides you through the checks that need a human, and produces the statement and evidence that demonstrate ongoing, good-faith effort — which is what matters if a complaint ever lands.
Will it slow down my website?
No. Scanning happens on our servers, not yours. The WordPress plugin applies approved fixes as your pages are generated — a few milliseconds of server-side work, with no extra JavaScript sent to your visitors. That's another difference from overlays, which load a third-party script on every page view.
Do I need to know anything about accessibility or code?
No. Every problem and every fix is explained in plain English — “this text is too light to read,” not a WCAG criterion number. You review and approve; the plugin does the applying. If you work with a developer, each fix can also produce technical instructions to hand off.
